Heathers: A Review

I love this movie, even if the characters wear enormous shoulder pads and kill people. I have a soft spot for high school movies, and when a few murders are added in, it suddenly becomes a million times better and insanely funny (I hope that doesn’t make me sound like I’m secretly a psychotic murderer). Winona Ryder and Christian Slater are perfect for their parts. Also, it’s a nice break from one of those movies where the character murders someone and then they’re like “oh my gawd I’m never going to be the same.” –Shana

Wow. I can’t tell if this movie made me a better person, or pushed me one step closer to becoming a serial killer. lets hope for the first. This movie was good! I think it fell somewhere along the lines of dark humor, but maybe also there was some romance as well? I think my absolute favorite part of the whole movie was this one song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-w1GeH8KPU (Teenage Suicide) And of course there is the main character/incredibly badass Veronica. She’s funny in just the right way and she might just shoot you while you aren’t looking. P.S. this isn’t a great film for squeamish people, you know, with murders and such. –Mae

Polished Jewels

Hia! I little while ago the Truephoria troupe got together and refurbished some ever so lovely trashy jewelry, using nail polish! This is a super easy DIY and the best part is that you can undo everything at the end if you decide you liked the jewels better before you painted them!  You probably already own most of the materials you need for this project, and no worries because nothing you need is too pricy!

here’s the stuff you need

* different colors of nail polish

* cosmetic sponges

* nail polish remover

* cheap, trashy or unused jewelry

also toothpicks are good for making details

Basically you get some nail polish on your sponge and then just dab the polish onto the jewelry. SUPER SIMPLE! We found that it worked well to paint the polish directly onto the jewelry also. Don’t be disappointed if the colors don’t come out as opaque as you where hoping for on the first coat. Just give it a few seconds to dry and then apply more coats. When you’re all done and the polish has dried, seal all of that colorful toxic goodness in with a clear coat of polish on top. If you aren’t happy with how your DIY accessories turned out, simply grab a cotton ball and some nail polish remover and take off the polish. Hi there!  Animal cruelty is a terrible thing and unfortunately there are a lot of companies that do animal testing. Shame on them! 

Don’t worry, though! There are plenty of wonderful companies and brands that are cruelty-FREE.  Hooray! 

Here are a couple of my favorites:

Simple and Classy Eye Makeup in a Hurry!

First you'll want to conceal your dark circles! Then using a creamy pencil or gel liner
line the center of the top lash line. 

Then grab a pen eyeliner and line the rest of the top lash line. Leave the
already lined section the thickest part of the liner.

It should look something like this

                             

                                      Use a coppery colored eyeshadow or eyeliner and line directly above
                                    the black eyeliner

Wing out the copper to make a cat eye however you wish. I chose to make
mine thick and flick upwards.

The last step is to enjoy being the classiest chick around!

The Trouble With Mess

I DESPISE cleaning my room. It’s like I have a tiny voice in my head telling me “I’ll clean it up before bed…maybe…” Of course this rarely ever happens, and I end up with a room that looks like it came straight from Hoarders! (well maybe not that bad, but you get the point) Anyhow the worst part about my room's messiness is that I have adapted, in some form. Basically as soon as my bed gets too covered to sleep in, I simply grab my pillow and go. I find a nice, clean couch or bed and set up camp. But with school just starting I don’t really have time for restless nights spent on the living room sofa, worrying about serial killers and mosquito bites. So here are some tips from a messy girl on how to keep your room inhabitable!

NUMBER ONE

Get the day off to a good start! The best way to make your room look clean? Spread your bed.  Basically when I want my room to look fairly clean for the whole day, I just spread my bed when I wake up. A bonus of this easy-1peasy cleaning cheat is that when you go to bed you have the nice surprise of a calming, cozy spread bed.

NUMBER TWO

I have resolved to stop snacking in my room. I always leave my dishes lying around! I decided to make this rule for myself after I recently left a bag of cotton candy open in my room and it turned into a hard, sugary brick. Also I seem to sleep better when I’m NOT snuggling with cookie crumbs from “lunch”. Since I can’t bring myself to take my dishes back to the kitchen when I’m done I will no longer eat in my room. Problem Solved!

NUMBER THREE

Don’t leave your clothes on the floor. This is probably my biggest flaw when it comes to cleaning. Seriously…It’s sooo much easier to keep your room looking snazzy if you just pick up the clothes you dropped while changing/getting dressed. I find it looks tidier if you have some way to hide your possibly overflowing laundry hamper after shoving your discarded clothes in it. And if hiding the mess somewhere isn’t an option then I recommend a hamper with a top.

And if worse comes to worst, you could always enlist some helpers (perhaps a bribe?) because it is always easier to clean someone else’s room. That’s it!
